Guy welcomes list ranking
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has welcomed his National Party list ranking of 16 for the 2014 general election.
"It’s great to have the support of the National Party, but I’ve always said I want to be the local MP for Otaki rather than reliant on the list."
In the 2011 election Mr Guy was ranked 20.
"Its a real privilege to be elected by locals and have a clear mandate.
"Representing and helping people is what I’m passionate about and why I got into politics. Both of my offices in Levin and Paraparaumu have been busy seeing constituents needing assistance.
"People know it's important to have their local MP in Government to get things done,” says Mr Guy.
"I’ll be campaigning on this track record of delivering locally. There are some great initiatives happening and I’m really pleased with progress being made on the Kapiti Expressway that is attracting hundreds of local jobs. Once completed, it will make a huge difference to many people and businesses in our community.
“Under Prime Minister John Key’s leadership, the country is in a relatively strong position and there are signs of confidence and growth across many sectors. The books are getting back to surplus and that provides opportunities in the future for all of us.”
Parliament rises on Thursday this week to enable the official campaign period to begin.
“I’m looking forward to the campaign and meeting as many people as possible. Voters will see that I'm running a very organised campaign with a large presence of hoardings on the highway.
“It’s an honour to be the local MP for the Otaki electorate and I will campaign hard for every vote,” Mr Guy says.
