Guy Gets in Govt
Otaki MP Nathan Guy says National has worked hard and fast to form a new Government, to be sworn in tomorrow.
Mr Guy has been endorsed by the National Party caucus to retain his role as Senior Whip in the enlarged caucus.
“This will be a step up from being National’s opposition whip to Senior Government whip. It is also a pivotal role with our huge caucus of 59 National MPs, including 16 new MPs who I’ll be helping in their transition to Parliament.
“I’ll also be involved in strengthening the working relationships with our support parties ACT, the Maori Party and United Future,” he says.
“But while the Senior Whip role in Government will be busy, my primary focus is to be a strong voice for the people of Kapiti and Horowhenua in the National Government. I am ready to get stuck in to get things done for people locally.”
Mr Guy says he has been impressed with the manner and style in which Prime Minister John Key has set about establishing relationships with support parties to form the new National Government.
“It’s going to be an extremely exciting time up until Christmas, as National begins to implement its 100-day action plan. The short time Parliament sits will be jam packed with new legislation.”
He will be retaining his two busy offices in Paraparaumu and Levin, where he will operate regular constituent clinics.
“There has been a flurry of visitors to my offices as people have been quick to congratulate me on my success and to wish the new National Government well. It appears people are really excited about the change and the prospect of a brighter future.”
