Guy welcomes Air New Zealand flights into Paraparaumu
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has welcomed the announcement that Air New Zealand will begin flights between Paraparaumu and Auckland from October this year.
“This is great news for the local economy and puts Kapiti firmly on the map. There are 100,000 potential passengers from Porirua to Levin that will look favourably on this new service.
“It presents huge potential for businesses to locate at the airport business park as products can be sent straight to Auckland airport for domestic or international supply.
“It also opens up our region to increased tourism. Prince William’s visit to Kapiti Island last year has raised awareness of what we have to offer with good weather, beaches, mountains, boutique shopping, gourmet food and a rural lifestyle.
“The new expressway will provide a great link for the airport with an interchange right on Kapiti Road.
“I’ve been a strong supporter of the airport development since Sir Noel Robinson purchased it and sat in my office and ran through the plans several years ago. That's why I took the Prime Minister there last year to see this exciting aviation development.
“This will means jobs, economic growth and another reliable airport option for Wellington city in difficult weather conditions."
