Guy Recognises Honours Recipients
Otaki MP Nathan Guy congratulates the two worthy New Year’s Honours recipients from the Otaki electorate.
The two honoured from the region are Garry Ward of Waikanae, with a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to broadcasting, and Chrissy Anderson of Otaki, with a Queens Service Medal (QSM) for services to the community.
“It’s great that these two from our community have been acknowledged for their services and I’m delighted for them and their families,” Mr Guy says. “They have given excellent service and made huge commitments both locally and further afield.”
Mr Ward is a local radio identity, well known to Newstalk ZB listeners. “Garry has a strong sporting background and wide ranging general knowing, making his ‘Great Weekender’ programme a real attraction.
“He also has strong links in the Kapiti community and promotes our wonderful district at every opportunity.”
Mrs Anderson has invested a huge amount of time teaching modern and ballroom dancing to people of all ages in our districts.
“Chrissy has a real community heart and has encouraged local youth to express themselves confidently through dance.”
Mr Guy says Professor Ngatata Love, who has strong links to the region, was recognised with the highest honour announced for his services to Maori, a Principal Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (PCNZM).
Squadron Leader Wayne Buckingham of Paekakariki also received a QSM for services to the New Zealand Cadet Forces.
“I wish all the recipients well and thank all those doing wonderful work in our community.”
