Makerua Roading Alignment
Local MP Nathan Guy was invited by the New Zealand Transport agency to view some of the construction projects in the Horowhenua district on 24 February.
"The $3 million roading realignment at Makerua on state highway (SH) 57 north of Shannon will make this section of road safer" Mr Guy says.
"Some nasty corners have been replaced and the major earthworks are due to be completed by the Winter.
"I'm also pleased that the $2.2 million safety work has started on SH56 through Opiki that will see 4 sharp bends reduced in angle"
"Both these safety projects will help to put Shannon on the map as SH57 continues to carry large volumes of traffic - resulting in more potential business for the town".
