Horowhenua's Community Law Centre Supported
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is delighted at the announcement by the National Government to fund Horowhenua’s Community Law Centre in Levin.
Community Law Horowhenua is located on Queen Street (next to the Fire Station) in Levin and provides a range of community legal services including legal advice, assistance and representation, legal information and education.
“Access to good legal advice for our local people is very important – it is proving even more essential in this current economic climate” says Mr Guy.
Community Law Centre’s across New Zealand have been funded primarily from the Lawyers and Conveyancer’s special fund. But the current economic situation, including lower house sales and dropping interest rates, has seen a 68% decline in funds available for the 27 Community Law Centre’s across New Zealand.
“The National Government is committed to finding a more reliable and enduring funding framework for this valuable service in our Horowhenua District”.
Horowhenua’s Community Law Centre is currently open from 10.30-2.30pm Tuesday to Thursday and can be contacted by phone for an appointment on (06) 3683554.
