Guy Presents 'What Now' Medals in Shannon
Otaki MP Nathan Guy presented three winners medals to Shannon School pupils that had participated in a 'What Now' TV programme competition.
"Pupils Brent Kelly, Fabian Taiaroa and Ngarimu Hurunui did their school and community proud by winning the event that involved an inflatable obstacle course," Mr Guy says.
The boys were selected from more than 20,000 children who had competed in heats, and were among only 24 children from around New Zealand that won through to the finals held in Christchurch recently.
"At a special celebration breakfast on Sunday (May 10), I congratulated the boys for getting active and performing so well as a team. They should wear their slam t-shirts with pride. The boys told me they were exhausted by the end of the event," Mr Guy says.
"The 'What Now' presenters talked of the Shannon team's courage, bravery and comradery that helped the boys do so well."
He says the Shannon community got behind the celebration breakfast and donated heaps of prizes that were given away to other children.
