Guy Says Airport Decision Will Boost Economy
Otaki MP Nathan Guy says the decision to allow Paraparaumu Airport’s development is great news for the Kapiti district, as it will create jobs and stimulate the local economy.
“This Environment Court decision represents a significant milestone for our region. It means Paraparaumu Airport will become viable by allowing a sensitive business park to be developed,” Mr Guy says.
“I understand work is going to start soon on the runway and I look forward to catching one of the first flights to Auckland.”
He says consultation currently being undertaken on Kapiti roading options is timely for the airport development, and consideration needs to be given to ensure the roading infrastructure meets the needs of the proposed airport development.
“About 100,000 people from the greater region will benefit directly from Air New Zealand flights to and from Auckland and Christchurch.
“This helps put Kapiti on the map for domestic and international tourists as well.”
