Funding Boost Great News for Otaki School
Otaki's Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rito School is receiving a $766,000 funding boost to build new classrooms and facilities, says Otaki MP Nathan Guy.
Mr Guy visited the school yesterday to see how this capital injection will be invested in upgrading existing tired classrooms and some new building replacement.
"Principal Janey Wilson is rapt about the funding investment that will make a real difference to the kids and staff"
"The funding will help meet roll growth for the 5-17 year old pupils. Its also means the school can look forward to modern facilities for students that travel from the Manakau to Paraparaumu catchment to attend the school.
"I know teachers, students and whanau have a great sense of pride in their kura, and fostering that spirit goes a long way to building a great school community. This much-needed funding will help the kura go from strength to strength."
The funding is part of a $29.8 million boost for new buildings at 27 schools across the country.
Mr Guys says the National-led government is committed to helping schools and students thrive.
Mr Guy says the funding follows a $41 million property funding boost to eighty-one schools earlier this year as part of the government's infrastructure package.
"We are committed to building the best possible classrooms, libraries and gyms for our kids".
Schools are selected for funding through a ranking system, depending on their need for additional space and any building issues.
