Minister unveils new fire truck
Minister of Internal Affairs and Otaki MP Nathan Guy attended the official handover of a new fire truck in Otaki last night.
“This brand new fire truck is designed for fighting urban and rural fires as well as attending rescue incidents,” said Mr Guy.
“It will be a great asset for the community. We need it here because Otaki is a very busy volunteer station with about 200 calls a year.
“I was invited for a ride in the new truck and was very impressed with its handling, modern features and clean exhaust system.
“I took the opportunity to thank the volunteers for their support of the Otaki Fire Brigade and the great job they do in keeping our community safe.”
The new Iveco truck is worth $450,000 and replaces an older model. It will be used as the brigade’s pump/rescue tender, carrying specialised rescue gear and being the first dispatched to motor vehicle accidents and other non-fire calls.
