Guy raises health assessment concerns with DHB
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has raised concerns with the Capital Coast District Health Board (CCDHB) over their phone assessments of home care needs for elderly people.
“I’m concerned that the needs of elderly people in the Kapiti community are being assessed over the phone rather than in person.
“Apparently people are not being told the purpose of the phone call until the end of the conversation.
“Senior citizens, especially those who are frail or in poor health, shouldn’t be treated like this. Many people have contacted my office but I’m concerned there may be others who aren’t able to speak up for themselves.
“People know the CCDHB budget is tight but this assessment could be handled better.
“As local MP for Otaki I’ve written to Capital Coast DHB Chief Executive Ken Whelan expressing my concerns over this process.”
