Guy Calls for Youth MP for 2010
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is looking for someone to sit in his seat at Parliament as his Youth MP for 2010.
This prestigious event is held every three years and commences in July this year.
“This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in politics to spend a few days in Wellington learning how Parliament works,” said Mr Guy.
“Youth MPs take part in the Parliamentary process and debate major issues with other young people from around the country.
“I’m looking for someone who is confident, gets on well with people and has good communication skills. Applicants will be passionate about the Kapiti-Horowhenua region and have ideas on how to make New Zealand a better place.”
“My 2007 Youth MP, Mr Jason Larsen, has proved how valuable the parliamentary experience was. He is now studying AgriBusiness at Massey University in Wellington and involved in youth politics.”
An application form is available online at www.nathanguy.co.nz and will be sent to local colleges. Those short listed will be interviewed by Mr Guy.
While at Parliament, Youth MPs will take part in question time, select committee hearings and debates.
Applications close on March 10th and are open to anyone aged 16 – 18.
