Guy welcomes Levin Courthouse open day
Otaki MP and Associate Justice Minister Nathan Guy is welcoming the open day at the new Levin Courthouse this Saturday.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to look around this impressive new building,” says Mr Guy.
“The new Courthouse is state of the art, and a great asset for the community. It has two modern and spacious courtrooms with the main courtroom capable of handling jury trials. The building is fitted with advanced security systems and features the latest technology for video conferencing and evidence recording.
“It is safer, more modern and has greater capacity than the old building.
“I look forward to welcoming the public through the doors.”
The Courthouse will be open from 10am to 12pm this Saturday 12th June. There will be displays showing the history of Levin’s Courthouse and guided tours will be lead by court staff.
The Courthouse is on the corner of Bristol and Stanley Streets and was officially opened on 7 March 2010 by the Prime Minister John Key.
“I’m pleased the Courthouse is now back to full hours after it was initially closed during the lunch break when many local people had their only chance to pop in. After working through this issue with officials, I’m pleased that common sense has prevailed.”
