Guy welcomes plans for Horowhenua Health Centre
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has welcomed plans for developing the Horowhenua Health Centre into an integrated family health centre.
“The Horowhenua Health Centre lends itself to becoming a ‘one stop shop’ for health in the Horowhenua district, integrating primary and secondary care.
“I brought the Minister of Health Tony Ryall to the Health Centre last week to discuss this issue with the PHO, DHB and local clinicians.
“The integrated family health centre model is driven by clinicians and supported by management who are keen to see positive changes at the Horowhenua Health Centre.
“It makes sense to coordinate services under one roof, saving money and delivering better care for patients.
“Utilising new technology will help remove bureaucracy and allow patient information to be accessed more efficiently by health professionals.
“Back office functions that are duplicated in many cases can be combined to focus more on front line services for the patient.
“I encourage the community to engage in the upcoming public forum.”
