Good progress welcomed on Peka Peka to Otaki SH1
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is welcoming the next stage of detailed consultation on the Peka Peka to Otaki expressway.
“This section of road is long overdue for an upgrade. We all know how bad traffic congestion can get on weekends and public holidays around Otaki.
“This section will include four laning, a new bridge over the Otaki River and an alternative route around the retail strip.
“I’m looking forward to engaging with the Otaki and Te Horo communities on the detailed designs to ensure that locals and visiting shoppers can easily access the expressway.
“Otaki has now become a very successful retail destination in its own right and I’m sure shoppers will continue to visit with their credit cards.
“This section is an important part of the expressway from Levin to Wellington airport, which also includes Transmission Gully. Once completed it will mean safer roads, quicker journeys and a real boost to the regional economy."
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) will begin public consultation on proposals for the Peka Peka to Otaki Expressway on Monday 7 February 2011, closing on Friday 18 March 2011.
“I look forward to attending the Open Day in Otaki on Saturday 12 February.”
