Rugby World Cup comes to Levin
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is urging locals to come and see the Rugby World Cup trophy, on this display this Friday 15 July from 11:30am to 1pm at the Levin Memorial Hall.
“The William Webb Ellis trophy is on a tour of New Zealand, giving locals a once in a lifetime chance to see the real thing.
“This is the trophy presented to each successful team since the tournament first kicked off in 1987. It’s the same trophy that Richie McCaw will hopefully be holding after the final at Eden Park later this year.
“It’s now less than two months until the tournament kicks off. This is a great chance for locals to have a photo taken with the trophy and be a part of history.
“The World Cup is going to be an enormous event for New Zealand. 85,000 international visitors and 2000 media are expected, putting us right on the world stage.
“There will be all kinds of community events happening, and plenty of tourists passing through our region. Let’s make the most of it.”
