Lottery funding to boost Kapiti Women’s Centre
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has welcomed $101,746 in funding from the Lottery Communities Facilities Fund for the Kapiti Women’s Centre.
"This grant will help extend and redevelop the meeting room, making this a great facility for use by the wider community.
"There has already been strong support from the local community for this project with fundraising throughout the year. This grant is a tribute to the hard work of many local individuals and organisations who have made this happen.
"The Kapiti Women’s Centre runs low-cost courses, and provides free counselling and advice, health information, a library, drop-in centre and a clothing exchange.
"This is a great Christmas present for the Kapiti community and well deserved.
"As the Minister of Internal Affairs, I’ve seen first-hand how important lottery funding is to so many community projects around the country.
“In total, $154 million will be distributed amongst the community this year from the profits of lotteries such as Lotto, Lotto Strike, Instant Kiwi and Keno," says Mr Guy.
