Ratepayers urged to claim rates rebate
Otaki MP Nathan Guy is urging local ratepayers not to miss out on claiming a rates rebate from their local council by the end of the month.
“Low income earners can claim up to $580 back from their local council, thanks to a Government funded scheme.
“In Kapiti and Horowhenua we have many elderly and low income households who will be eligible for this helping hand.
“Those earning up to $23,240 a year from all sources may be eligible for the maximum benefit, while those earning over the threshold may still qualify for a lower rebate.
“There are some conditions around this rebate, so people need to contact their local council and get their applications in before Saturday June 30.”
People can apply at their local council, and will need information on their income, their partners income and a rates notice for the current year.
