Otaki Youth MP for 2013 appointed
Otaki MP Nathan Guy has selected 18 year old Michael Fryer of Levin to take his seat at the 2013 Youth Parliament.
“Michael is an outstanding young leader in our community who will do our region proud.
“Michael was the Horowhenua Youth Council chairman and is a former student of Horowhenua College. He has been widely involved in the community, including with the Horowhenua Rowing Club and was mentored by Mayor Brendan Duffy last year as part of the Tuia Programme.
“I’ll be encouraging Michael to engage with local young people on the issues affecting them.
“Youth Parliament happens every three years and is an opportunity to discuss and debate major issues facing young people.
“I received many applications from a lot of talented young people in our region, and it was a tough choice to make. I want to thank everyone that applied,” says Mr Guy.
A total of 121 Youth MPs will take part in select committees, question time and debates in Parliament from 16 to 17 July 2013.
