Guy ready for 2014 election campaign
Otaki MP Nathan Guy says activity heading into the 2014 General Election steps up a gear this week, as the regulated 90-day period for the September 20 election begins.
“I’m ready for the election and am excited to be standing again to represent the people of Kapiti and Horowhenua that make up the Otaki electorate.
“There are some great initiatives happening locally and I’m really pleased at the rate of progress being made on the Kapiti Expressway. Once complete, it will make a huge difference to many people and businesses in our community.
“Under Prime Minister John Key’s leadership, the country is also in a relatively strong position and there are signs of confidence and growth across many sectors. The books are getting back to surplus and that provides opportunities for the future for all of us.”
Mr Guy says it’s important that people are enrolled to vote and he encourages people to check they are enrolled. All New Zealand citizens and permanent residents over the age of 18 are eligible to vote. People can visit http://www.elections.org.nz/ to check their eligibility and to enrol, or visit one of Mr Guy’s electorate offices – in Paraparaumu or Levin – for assistance.
“It’s really important people have their say and take part in the democratic process of electing their representative and Government.”
Parliament will rise on July 31 to enable the official campaign period to begin.
“I’m looking forward to the campaign and meeting with and listening to as many people as possible.
“It’s an honour to be the local MP for the Otaki electorate and I will campaign hard for every vote,” Mr Guy says.
