Queen’s Birthday Honours
It was great to see on Queen’s Birthday many well-deserved recipients receive Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Dr Frank Boffa, of Waikanae, has become an Officer of the Order of New Zealand for his services to landscape architecture. His company, Boffa Miskell Ltd, has become one of the leading environmental planning and design companies.
He was also instrumental in the education of landscape architecture in New Zealand and continues to make a difference in his field with his skills and experience.
Mr Bryan Jackson, of Waikanae, has become a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the motor industry and the community. He has been a member and Chair of numerous Motor Industry boards over the last three decades.
Bryan’s business skills have benefited many local businesses in our community.
Dr Graham Stoop, of Paraparaumu Beach, has become a companion of the Queen’s Service Order for his services to education. Dr Stoop has spent more than 30 years in public service through various teaching and educating roles.
Dr Stoop pioneered new review processes within the ERO and helped to bring positive change to the organisation.
Major James Lower, of Waikanae, was rewarded with a Queen’s Service Medal for his incredible 23 years of service to the community through the New Zealand Cadet Forces.
James has also been involved in a number of other organisations, such as the Waikanae Town Patrol, Waikanae Police Base and the Kapiti Brass Band.
Mrs Jane Amelia Yoong, of Waikanae, has been honoured with a Queen’s Service Medal for her services to senior citizens. Mrs Yoong was a prominent voice for the welfare of Senior Citizens in her role as Chief Executive of Age Concern New Zealand.
Jane played a leading role in the development of new initiatives to target elder abuse and neglect. She has dedicated many years to senior citizens and still contributes through the Kapiti branch of Age Concern.
I congratulate all of the recipients for their commitment to our communities. Anyone can be nominated for an honour. As local MP I’m happy to support nominees who have made a worthy contribution. More information is available at: http://www.dpmc.govt.nz/honours/nominations
